A stunning specimen plant for pots or the well-drained garden. The bulbs can reach up to 30cm in diameter, with 20 or more erect leaves that are glaucous and an inch or so wide. The flower spike will emerge before the leaves and will consist of around a hundred, pinkish/brick coloured, flowers. When the flowers finish, the pedicles (individual flower spikes) elongate, and the whole spike forms a ball shape 40cm or more wide. In the wild, these roll around dispersing seeds, like tumbleweeds.
